Hello Mr. Spammer… (Die! Die! Die!)
I got hit by a spammer “jacob73kolp” earlier this week. I thought I had a new friend, but some research lead to this pice of information: http://cubelodyte.com/2008/06/13/march-of-the-spambots/
Needless to say I got a bit upset, and went into researching how this can be prevented.
The reCAPTCHA mechanism seems to be one of the better alternatives, and in combination with Register Plus I can once again go to sleep, knowing that you’re safe from spammers.
I’ll do a proper write-up on the technology behind this site “someday soon”… Better not hold your breath though
